Lesson Recording and Monitoring Policy
Last updated: July 27, 2026
This policy explains when AlpacaLingua may record or monitor lessons for safety, quality review, complaint handling, teacher training, and platform operations. AlpacaLingua is operated by UnixBox Corp, a New York corporation doing business as AlpacaLingua.
Not every lesson is recorded. When recording is used, notice is provided and, where required, consent is captured before recording begins.
1. When Recording May Be Used
AlpacaLingua may record a lesson when reasonably needed for safety, quality review, complaint handling, dispute resolution, attendance verification, teacher coaching and training, or platform operations. Recording is not applied to every lesson.
AlpacaLingua may expand the scope of recording in the future. If that happens, this policy will be updated before the change takes effect.
2. Purpose of Recording
Recordings, when made, are used only for the purposes disclosed in this policy or in the notice provided at the time of recording. Recordings are not used to advertise, market, or promote AlpacaLingua or any third party.
3. Notice and Consent
When a lesson is recorded, notice appears before or at the start of the lesson.
For a Student under 18, the parent or legal guardian must have granted consent to lesson recording as part of the Parent or Guardian Consent Agreement before a recorded lesson may proceed.
If you do not accept recording for a lesson that will be recorded, AlpacaLingua may need to reschedule or, in some cases, be unable to provide that lesson.
4. Access to Recordings
Access to a recording is limited to the Student (and, for a minor, the parent or guardian), authorized AlpacaLingua staff who need access for safety, quality, support, or complaint review, and, where reasonably needed, the assigned Teacher for teaching or feedback.
Recordings are protected against unauthorized access with standard access controls.
5. Retention and Deletion
When a recording is made, it is kept for 30 days from the lesson date and then automatically deleted.
A recording may be kept longer only when it is preserved for an active complaint, a documented safety incident, or a legal hold. Once the reason ends, the recording is deleted.
6. Training Use
Recordings may be used for internal teacher coaching and training after appropriate notice to affected participants.
7. No Marketing Use
AlpacaLingua does not use a Student’s recording, voice, photo, video, name, or lesson excerpt in marketing under any circumstances. Marketing use is not covered by this policy and requires a separate, voluntary written permission that AlpacaLingua does not currently request.
8. User Restrictions
Teachers may not make their own recordings of lessons.
Students, parents, and guardians may not publish lesson recordings, share screenshots that reveal another person, or distribute a Teacher’s or another Student’s image, voice, or lesson content without authorization.
9. Access Requests and Complaints
A Student or parent may contact support@alpacalingua.com to ask whether a specific lesson was recorded and, if so, to request access. If a recording is relevant to a complaint, AlpacaLingua may review it and may provide access only where appropriate, lawful, and consistent with privacy and safety obligations.
