We collect the following categories of information:

Account Information

Name, email address, password-related authentication data, role (student, teacher, parent, admin), language level, learning goals, timezone, and account settings.

Student Learning Information

Level, lesson history, roadmap progress, homework submissions, teacher notes and feedback, attendance, schedule, learning preferences, and materials uploaded by the student.

Teacher Information

Teaching profile details, assigned students, schedules, lesson notes, homework reviews, progress updates, and communication records.

Parent or Guardian Information (where applicable)

Parent or guardian name, email, phone number, relationship to the student, the student’s name and age or age group, electronic signature, IP address, user agent, and the date the consent was given.

Payment Information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive limited transaction data such as payment status, subscription identifiers, last four digits of the card, and Stripe customer and subscription IDs. We do not store full card numbers on our own servers.

Communication and Support Information

If you contact us, we collect your name, email, message content, support request details, screenshots you provide, and our responses. Messages between students and teachers within the Service are stored so that support can review them if needed.

Lesson Recordings

Recordings of your lessons, subject to the Lesson Recording and Monitoring Policy.

Technical Information

IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, pages visited, time spent, login activity, cookies, and similar usage data.

We use information to:

• create and manage accounts;
• provide student and teacher access;
• assign teachers and manage lessons;
• show learning roadmaps and progress;
• provide homework, materials, feedback, and lesson history;
• personalize lessons, recommend exercises, and generate homework based on student performance;
• schedule lessons, send reminders, and manage attendance;
• process payments, subscriptions, and refunds;
• record lessons for safety, quality, complaints, and teacher training as described in the Recording Policy;
• respond to support requests and complaints;
• improve platform performance, security, and user experience;
• protect the Service from fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access;
• comply with legal, safety, and payment-provider obligations.

AlpacaLingua may use Student performance information to personalize lessons and generate learning content within the Service. We do not use identifiable Student information to train public or third-party general-purpose AI models. Teachers may not upload Student work, name, voice, or messages to external AI tools outside approved AlpacaLingua integrations.

AI is not the final decision-maker for complaints, account restrictions, or a Student’s level. A qualified person reviews those decisions.

AlpacaLingua separates access by user role.

Students see their own learning information and account data.

Parents linked to a student account see the same student’s information they authorize.

Teachers see information needed to teach and support assigned students.

Authorized AlpacaLingua administrators may access platform data when needed to operate, support, secure, and improve the Service.

We do not sell personal information. We share limited information with trusted service providers that help us operate the Service:

• Firebase (Google) for authentication, hosting, database, and storage;
• Stripe for payments, subscriptions, and the customer billing portal;
• Google Meet for video lessons;
• Google Analytics for usage measurement on public pages;
• Google Ads and Meta advertising tools for marketing on public pages;
• transactional email provider for account and lesson notifications;
• Twilio for SMS or WhatsApp notifications, where enabled and where you have provided a phone number;
• customer support tools used by our team.

These providers process information only as needed to provide their service to AlpacaLingua. We may add, replace, or remove providers over time and will update this list.

We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, security investigation, fraud prevention, or to protect the rights and safety of AlpacaLingua, users, or others.

We use essential cookies to keep users signed in, remember preferences, process checkout, and protect account security. We use analytics and, on public marketing pages, advertising cookies subject to any applicable consent requirement.

For accounts known to belong to a Student under 18, we disable behavioral advertising and do not use child-account data for advertising profiling. Full details are in the Cookie Policy.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect personal information, including access controls, authentication, encryption where appropriate, secure storage on Firebase, monitoring, and role-based access limits.

No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy and as required by law.

• Active account data is kept while the account is active.
• After an account is closed or a deletion request is received, active personal data is deleted or anonymized within 90 days, subject to the exceptions below.
• Lesson notes and progress records are kept for the life of the active account and for 1 year after the account is closed.
• Lesson recordings are kept for 30 days from the lesson date, then automatically deleted, except when a recording is preserved for an active complaint, a safety incident, or a legal hold.
• Parental consent records are kept for the entire period the child account is active and for 3 years after the account is closed.
• Financial and tax records are kept for the period required by tax and accounting law.

Depending on your location and account type, you may have the right to:

• access the personal information we hold about you;
• correct inaccurate information;
• request deletion of certain information;
• object to certain uses;
• request a portable copy of your information;
• withdraw consent where consent is required.

To make a request, email support@alpacalingua.com from the account email. We aim to acknowledge requests within 2 business days and respond within a reasonable time consistent with applicable law.

The Service is intended for users aged 13 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent obtained in advance under our Parent or Guardian Consent Agreement.

Where a child under 13 is enrolled with parental consent, the parent or legal guardian owns the account, is the payer, and is the point of contact. Until the required parental consent is completed, the child does not receive access to lessons, Google Meet, messages, homework, or lesson recordings.

AlpacaLingua verifies parental consent by confirming the parent’s email and, where a payment is made, by matching the payment card used to complete the transaction to the parent identified in the consent record. The consent record includes the parent name, student name, student age or age group, electronic signature, date, IP address, and user agent.

A parent or guardian may at any time contact support@alpacalingua.com to review the personal information collected from the child, request corrections, stop further collection, or request deletion of the child’s account and personal information. If we make a material change to how we handle a child’s personal information that goes beyond the previously granted consent, we will request new parental consent.

AlpacaLingua is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or in other countries where our service providers operate. Data protection laws in those countries may differ from the laws in your country.

If California privacy law applies to your use of the Service, you may have additional rights regarding access, deletion, correction, and certain disclosures of personal information. AlpacaLingua does not sell personal information.

If we later use tools that qualify as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any required opt-out.

We send service-related messages about your account, lessons, payments, security, and support by email, and, where you have provided a phone number, by SMS or WhatsApp for transactional messages such as reminders and schedule changes.

Marketing SMS or WhatsApp is sent only with a separate opt-in. Marketing emails include an unsubscribe link. You may still receive important account or transactional messages after unsubscribing from marketing.

AlpacaLingua may record lessons when reasonably needed for safety, quality, complaints, or teacher training under the Lesson Recording and Monitoring Policy. Not every lesson is recorded. When a recording is made, it is kept for 30 days from the lesson date and then automatically deleted, except when preserved for an active complaint, safety incident, or legal hold. Recordings, voice, photo, or video of a Student are never used for marketing.

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service changes. When we make material changes, we will notify affected users by email to the account email address, with reasonable notice before the change takes effect.

Continued use of the Service after the effective date of an update means the updated Privacy Policy applies. If you do not accept the update, you may stop using the Service and, where applicable, cancel your subscription through the Stripe customer portal.
