Promotional Codes and Discount Terms

A promotional code is applied at checkout before payment. The screen shows the standard price of the plan, the discount applied, the first amount you will be charged, and the amount you will be charged at each renewal while the promotional price remains active.

If a code is invalid, expired, restricted to a different plan, or not available for your account, the checkout displays the standard price without the discount.

When you subscribe to a recurring plan with a valid promotional code, the discounted price applies to your first billing period and continues to apply to each automatic renewal as long as your subscription remains active and continuous, unless the promotional code’s own terms shown at checkout say otherwise (for example, a code limited to the first N months).

For example, if you subscribe with a code that gives $20 off per month, you will be charged the discounted price every month for as long as the subscription runs without interruption.

A promotional discount is tied to the continuous subscription that first applied the code. If you cancel the subscription, the promotional discount ends at the end of the current paid period.

If you later start a new subscription, the standard price shown at that new checkout applies. The previous promotional code does not automatically re-apply, even if the same code is still active for new customers, unless the code’s terms explicitly say it does. If you want the discount to continue, do not cancel the subscription.

If a scheduled renewal payment fails and the subscription is restored during any grace period offered by Stripe or AlpacaLingua without a new signup, the subscription is treated as continuous and the promotional discount continues to apply.

If the subscription is fully cancelled (by you, by Stripe after retries, or by AlpacaLingua) and you later start a new subscription, that new subscription is not continuous and the promotional discount does not carry over.

If you change plans (for example from Standard to Intensive), the price shown at that upgrade or downgrade checkout applies. A previous promotional discount tied to the old plan does not automatically transfer to the new plan unless the code’s terms explicitly say it does.

Only one promotional code may be applied to a subscription at a time. Codes do not stack. A code cannot be combined with another discount unless the checkout explicitly shows both discounts being applied.

AlpacaLingua may set an expiration date for a promotional code, limit the number of times it may be used, restrict it to specific plans or new customers, or withdraw a code at any time. A subscription that already accepted a valid code before the expiration continues to receive the discount under the rules above.

If AlpacaLingua changes the standard price of a plan under the Subscription and Automatic Renewal Policy, the promotional discount is applied to the new standard price at the next eligible renewal, unless the code’s terms explicitly say otherwise. AlpacaLingua provides at least 30 days’ advance notice before a standard-price change takes effect.

Promotional codes are for genuine personal use. Creating multiple accounts to reuse a code that is restricted to new customers, sharing a personal code publicly against its terms, or otherwise abusing a promotion may result in the discount being removed, the subscription being cancelled, or the account being restricted under the Terms of Use.

Refunds, lesson credits, and chargebacks are governed by the Refund, Credit and Cancellation Policy. Cancellation is described in the Subscription and Automatic Renewal Policy. A discounted subscription follows the same cancellation rules as any other subscription.
